[Mono-list] Mono and Red Hat Release 4.0 Updates 5 and 6.

Are you talking about RHEL4 or RH4 - they're a world of differences
between them (for one, RH4 is monsterously out of date!).

Assuming you're using RHEL 4, mono 2.0 RC 1 should be okay on it. I know
that Mono 1.9.1 was ear-marked to go into RHEL5.
