But what are the mimial libraries required? I have a stupid-simple form with
a treeview and a listview, and it failes badly.

My current system reports 'Failed to open XIM'

No fonts seem to be drawn.

I have ...

cairo libgdiplus mono

freetype SDL, jpeg, lbpng, libmng, lcms

xorg and related libraries and drivers to get X functioning.
