[Mono-list] what is the best distribution to work with mono

Assuming you have no reason to prefer one distro to another
except your own ease of development, I suggest you
take a look at what versions of the tools you like to use
are most easily available. For example, if you want to use
NUnit - OK, I'm the developer so this is a plug - you might
find that it takes a bit of effort to get a package for SUSE
that's less than about four years old. At least that's what
somebody on one of my other lists just told me.
Make a list of what you would install on each platform and
see how well each distro supports you.
