[Mono-list] File permission exception to /var/log/syslog

Hello,

I've recently had to port a Windows service to Linux and one of the
service's function is to parse the system logs and
send to them to a server so naturally I'd use /var/log/syslog but
unfortunately it's giving me some lip.

I've created a system account called "tsxmon" to run the service in and
everything is fine except I keep getting a security exception
when trying to access /var/log/syslog, or any of the other logs, despite
the fact that I added the "tsxmon" user to the "syslog" user group.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks,
Jimmy.
