Thanks for the hint, but unfortunately it does not fix the issue. I  
had already tried with both Safari and Camino, logging in and out and  
now deleting all cookies - no change.

Is the "Mono: Tools" product maybe deprecated? It is not listed on  
the Wiki page you referenced and there is no version 1.2 available to  
select. I recently posted http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi? 
id=80564 in "Mono: Class Libraries" (like you did for testing) and  
that worked without problems.
