I don't think there should be a database that can't be read using any
method, even if it wasn't created with Mono.Data.SqliteClient and even
if it has crazy nonuniform data in columns.

I was just fooling around with your original test case.  For instance,
just change '2006-05-11 11:45:00' to 123.456.  (Or, change the 'date'
type of the column to integer and add some doubles and strings into the
table.  Things like that.)
