This is interesting. It is not the first time i've heard people say that
they downloaded a connector for mono from MySql's site. But everytime i
go there, i find no such thing, only for Windows. My guess would be that
there was, in the past, an official version for mono but they abandoned
that.

Anyway, this is very recent news, most probably younger than 1 month:

"...
MySQL: MySQL Connector/Net
(http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/) is the recommended
provider for MySQL from MySQL (http://www.mysql.com/).
ByteFX.Data.MySqlClient is no longer maintained.

Info
The Mono provider for MySQL (http://www.mysql.com/) database is the
MySQL Connector/Net (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/).

MySQL Connector/Net is a fully managed provider and does not require a
client library. You have to get it from MySQL AB. ...

Note: The 1.0.5 release of MySQL Connector/Net does not work on non-
Windows systems.

Please download and use the 1.0.7 release of MySQL Connector/Net which
works on Mono on Windows and Linux.

ByteFX.Data is no longer maintained. You should use the MySQL
Connector/Net instead.
..."

This is good to know. I just wish there was some way i would could have
known that ByteFX was no longer oficial. It was, kind of, by chance that
i found that out (even though the future of ByteFX was known to be not
long).

Also, if MySQL Connector/Net is, indeed, the oficial, that should be
mentioned in the MySql site, instead of having it listed as a Windows
only connector. But this is MySql's responsibility. Maybe they don't
want to call it oficial yet!?

Thank for the replies!
