[Mono-list] How to begin!?

Hello guys, Today I began to search about Mono and I don't know exactly 
where to begin. 
 So, what must I download? 
What install? 
Can I install at any linux or no? 
What free C# tool can I use?
Actually I'm using VS.NET <http://VS.NET> 2003, can I use it?
