Mono,

First, get yourself a decent C# book. Have a look at http://www.accu.org
at the book reviews and decide. Personally, I liked "Programming C#" by
Jesse Liberty (O'Reilly) - a very good book.

Caveat - instead of using csc to compile the source, use mcs.

Next, a decent book for Mono - "Mono - A Developers Notebook" by
Dumbill and Bournstein (O'Reilly) is good.

Finally, something using winforms. "C# Unleashed" by Mayo (Sams) isn't
bad for that. However, if you're not using mono built from the head svn,
this one is currently somewhat pointless.

Hope that helps.
