The problem is that the driver that is in mono doesn't suport the new password() style, and the user that you're trying to connect has a password created by that new password() style.
The driver in mono still bytefx that should be upgraded to mysql.data.dll from mysql site.

Hello.

For my simple test application with MySql server connection I have next exception :

MySqlException : Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySql client. 

I have Mysql instaled for localhost. My mysql version is : mysql 4.1.10a-3

Please answer, may be I use old server or this problem for other location?
