here is a simple benchmark from me. with optimistic behave there is 10X diffrence between mssql and mysql drivers. 
 
actually i didn't try npgsql drivers cause it doesn't support mysql5 and SPs... like ByteFX... but ByteFX comes with mono...
 
So my questions are ...
 
1) Also will mono change mySQL drivers to mysql net connectors ? as i know mysql hire some of ByteFX coders... 
 
2) What is the reason of this diffirence how can we close it. (Also would this behaviour be linear? In high stress would mysql net connectors behave better?)
