I sent this to the monodevelop-list on Tue, 19 Oct 2004 20:38:47 -0500,
but I haven't even seen my own mail yet, never mind a reply.
-------- Forwarded Message --------
So maybe I was foolish to upgrade my main system to ulb-gnome 2.8,
please don't hate me. Has SuSE even released 2.6 yet?
I'm having some problems trying to (re)install MD. I know I have mono
installed, because I've been writing C# code in gedit/kate/eclipse while
I try to figure out what is happening with MD.
when I try to install the rpm from red-carpet, I get an error :
error: Failed dependencies:
mono(gtksourceview-sharp) >= 1.0.0.1 is needed by
monodevelop-0.5-1.ximian.9.2
Installing gtksourceview-sharp fails because it provides vbnet.lang and
so does gtksourceview 1.1 (ulb)
/opt/gnome/share/gtksourceview-1.0/language-specs/vbnet.lang from
install of gtksourceview-sharp-0.5-1.ximian.9.1 conflicts with file from
package gtksourceview-1.1.0-100.SuSE.ulb.1
When I try to install from source I get a configure error (probably cuz
gtksourceview-sharp not installed)
Package bonobo-activation-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search
path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing
`bonobo-activation-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'bonobo-activation-2.0', required by 'gnome-vfs', not found
configure: error: Library requirements (gnome-vfs-2.0 >= 2.0
) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find
them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm about to open up the
gtksourceview-sharp rpm and extract the files individually, I hope this
works.

PS. I'm a defected Windows (asp, asp.net, sql, vb6) programmer. I must
say, "DAMN, this linux thing is fun".
