Hi Victor,

I've tried installing straight from the source, and via the ports. The
result is the same problem. Here's the tail of my ./configure :

...
checking for glib-2.0 >= 1.3.11... yes
checking BASE_DEPENDENCIES_CFLAGS... -I/usr/local/include/glib-2.0
-I/usr/local/lib/glib-2.0/include
checking BASE_DEPENDENCIES_LIBS... -L/usr/local/lib -lglib-2.0 -liconv
checking gc.h usability... no
checking gc.h presence... no
checking for gc.h... no
checking gc/gc.h usability... no
checking gc/gc.h presence... no
checking for gc/gc.h... no
checking for GC_malloc in -lgc... no
configure: error: "GC requested but libgc not found! Install libgc or
run configure with --with-gc=none."

spark% ldconfig -r | grep lgc
        78:-lgc.1 => /usr/local/lib/libgc.so.1
        79:-lgccpp.1 => /usr/local/lib/libgccpp.so.1
