I feel that we can address this iteratively, any first version will
probably be suboptimal, and as you point out FireFox shows this. 

We certainly do not have a 20/20 hindsight and am sure that we will
learn as we go.  Am optimistic about the outcome, after all we have the
source code, and changes can be made to make Gtk a better cross
platform toolkit.
