[Mono-list] Diferent Charset retriving from database

Hello

i'm new in this forum and i hope i can help many people from here and 
resolve my problems too.

Now i'm having a problem that i cannot resolve.

I'm using  Mono 1.0 in a FC2, and i'm developing with MonoDevelop 0.5 to 
connecto to a MySQL database in another Linux (Gentoo) across my network.

To access this SGBD i had used VB6, PHP, and Phyton and have any 
problems, but now using ByteFX in Mono i'm having some problems.

I connect to the database very well, and get the data, but the Text Data 
came with a charset diferente. First i thougth that was because the 
browser (because i was making an Web Application), then i make a Console 
Application and i get the same problem. When the data have portuguese 
chars i get it all wrong.....

What can i do ??
Can i configure the Mono or ByteFX to match the CharCode !??!? How !!??!
Do i have to change the charset of the server ??? this cannot be done, 
this server is used by PHP applications and they work fine.
I have to change the charset in my WorkStation ??? Where ?? How ?!?!?
Do i have to make any modification in XSP !!?!? How ???
