For some reason, Red Carpet works much better; I think it must use
different servers.=20

I had a big struggle installing Mono 1.0, but it turned out to be
because of an old beta installation I did from source. It would have
worked if I had done 1.0 from source too, but Red Carpet is much easier;
once I had expunged the beta from my system it all worked very smoothly.
