relinking on macosx is generally rather broken in libtool, and is, in 
fact, not necessary; it's been removed in libtool cvs.  You could try 
installing libtool from cvs and rerunning the autgen stuff, or patch out 
the bits of configure and ltmain.sh that tell it to relink (I can't 
recall specifically what they are).
