[Mono-list] Mono on FreeBSD?

I have had success installing Mono on FreeBSD 4.6 (it wasn't easy). I have
heard the port works fine for FreeBSD 5.*. Which version are you running?

I recently joined the mono list and was looking over the archives of this
list.  I use FreeBSD for a mail server and a web server.  I'd like to try
using Mono on FreeBSD but doesn't appear anyone is having success installing
on BSD.  Is mono only intended for linux?
