[Mono-list] installation help

Hy, i'm a newbye in MONO & LINUX, 
I'm trying to install mono on WIN/CYGWIN.
I'm a very newbye :-(  so i try with mono-buil script :-), noway he tell me:

configure: error:find libgc but not its header file! You may need to install them by hand.

let's go by hand:

after many trying finally ./configure go, 
but now when I type make he sayd to me:

make[3]: *** [monoburg] Error1
make[3]: Leaving directory 'cygdrive/d/cygwin/mono/mono/monoburg'

make[2]: Leaving directory 'cygdrive/d/cygwin/mono/mono'

can you sayd me where i'm in error?
maybe I need a C# compiler?
