[Mono-list] CVS

OK, I keep getting people telling me to download this and that from CVS.  I
have never used CVS before, so I need a little help.  I have it installed,
and I set the Env variable for $CVSROOT.  I tried executing the instructions
for the Mono CVS page for checking out the sources for the first time.
After the 'cvs login' command I get a Password request.  I type in a email
address (? like FTP) and it hangs, and eventually times out.  What am I
doing wrong?
