I guess I'm a little bit late in commenting, but shouldn't there be a
way to achieve this so that the Handbook node doesn't show up if you
don't have the handbook installed? I'm not quite clear on the
distinction between monodoc.xml and the sources/ stuff, but I'd think
the latter way of installing documentation would be preferable, because
you can easily add and remove stuff on a per-package level. (Like the
way that distros moved from inetd.conf to xinetd.d/)
