You asked about using Eclipse with Improve C# plugin.
I'm experimenting with it in one of my Windows machines, my conclusion:

The plugin is too raw: It mainly gives you a C# editor, but you don't have 
project level integration in the IDE.

SharpCode is a better solution, but it currently can't run outside windows.

I'm using VS.NET in one windows machine, Eclipse and Notepad at the other, 
and gedit on my linux Mandrake 9 machine, but I'll have to give Anjuta 
another chance...
