[Mono-list] unchecked() -> OverflowException

compiling the following with mono causes an overflow exception at run time.
int test = unchecked((int)DateTime.Now.Ticks);
Compiling with CSC.exe runs finely using mono or ms.net though. Platform
win32, v0.17.
This a known bug with unchecked?
