Indeed, it works with the mono runtime, too.
I went and changed mcs to use the typebuilder type as the type of the
fields and it _seems_ to work ok (full bootstrap build of mcs and all
the mono assemblies went ok as well as the compiler test suite).
Maybe I was just remembering the issue wrong (or the issue has 
been fixed since the beta days). Anyway, I blame the compiler guys for
it:-)
