Try reading the mono-list archives...
You will find that entering http://localhost:8080/index.aspx will work.
Also, make sure garbage collection is turned off. This can be done with:
export GC_DONT_GC=1

I'm using Mandrake 8.2.
I have downloaded and installed the
four packages (libgc-6.1-1.i586.rpm, libgc-devel-6.1-1.i586.rpm,
mono-0.17-2.i586.rpm, mono-devel-0.17-2.i586.rpm)
After, I have downloaded, extracted and installed (make, make install) the
XSP web server.
When I run the server with this command:
[root@cpdeduardo test]# mono server.exe
I got this error messages:

libkernel32.dll.so (kernel32.dll): libkernel32.dll.so: cannot open shared
