Hey team,
I was excited to see a new minor version of mono come out and when I ran the
.rpm on my new RedHat 9 environment and that installed fine.
Then I wanted mod_mono installed and things are more or less where they were
before. You need to compile mono from the source to get mod_mono to compile.
But you can't compile mono from source out of the box because it asks for
glib2.0 and the dependency issues go downhill from there.
Is it possible that you guys are putting these packages together on
development machines and people without a development footprint on their
servers will have a much more complex installation process?
I know I know - it's all in a development phase and you can't really spend
too much time on support issues, but it would really great to actually use
all of your hardwork and test it out.
FYI - I'm trying to do things with moderate knowledge administrating a linux
box and no linux programming experience at all.
And up2date is my friend. I can do rpm's here and there on their own, but if
things start needed dependencies, I get frustrated.
Anyway, just reporting my experience.
I hope to get this thing running sooner or later.
