Just a data point: the www.smallscript.org guys claim that they have
implemented a superset of smalltalk-98 called S# running on the CLR.
They have the usual suspect features you'd want in a dynamic language
and they claim the performance is very good:

I haven't downloaded their stuff, since it requires a silly
registration, but it would be good if someone is willing to run some
tests with it and maybe also report if it works in mono.
