Hi Juli,

I had gotten approval and committed my patch by the time I got your mail.

However, you are free to modify it to make it portable.  I don't know such
things since I'm limited to Windows and Linux.

In general, we want to use '$(MAKE)' or '${MAKE}' instead of hardcoded
'make'
for [literally dozens of] portability reasons.
