I don't think it's hard to support it and it hasn't been done because
that heap type should really never be produced for production code
anyway.

Adding support just requires reading a bit of the current loader code,
maybe asking questions about it, a little C coding experience and two
more things that almost no one in the mono team has: 
1) visual studio to produce the uncompressed #- heaps
2) the willingness to run something on windows:-)

So, if you already run windows and have vs.net, you can easily add a new
feature to mono (that is, at least until you see the light and switch to
GNU/Linux :-).
