If you're trying to build mono, I suggest getting the automated build
script from http://www.go-mono.com/download (versions available for both
linux and cygwin).  This will fetch any additional build dependencies too.

If you just want binaries, and you're running linux, there are prebuilt
snapshots available on http://mono.baselabs.org/
