Hi,

The csc is part of MSFT's .NET SDK and only availble on win32. As it
stands now, the class library (mcs) must be compiled in a win32 cygwin
environment. The mono compiler can be compiled on linux.

Your best best for an initial checkout and setup is Dick's mono-buils.sh
script, as it automates much of the process for you (the scripts are
availble on http://go-mono.org.

What I generally do is have my W2K workstation up to date in a cygwin
environment, then tar up my runtime dll's and put them on my linux
workstation.

Hope that's more helpful rather than confusing!

Email me if you need any other help
