[Mono-list] Performance Characteristics vs. Java

All,

It's been exciting to listen in on the great progress you all are 
making. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to the day Mono can 
run on Linux or with Wine.

My experience with the Java VM is that it is quick when it finally gets 
itself loaded, except that Swing is unbearably slow all the time. I'm 
sure MS wanted to make it's VM more agile. So did they? Just from a 
design standpoint, should it in theory be a whole lot faster than Java?
