Hello!
We’re happy to announce initial support for the upcoming version of Apple’s
desktop OS, which will be released this Fall and is available today as a
beta.
The Mono preview package is available here:
http://download.mono-project.com/archive/4.2.0/macos-10-x86/MonoFramework-MDK-4.2.0.macos10.xamarin.x86.pkg
If you have any issues, please reply here (or file a bug at
bugzilla.xamarin.com) so we can iron them out for the final release.
Breaking changes due to El Capitan support:
The major change with El Capitan is that Apple introduced a feature named
System Integrity Protection that no longer allows third parties to install
software to ‘/usr’. Instead the allowed place is ‘/usr/local’. Our links to
the mono executables had to be relocated accordingly.
This means that if any of your software relied on mono binaries being
available in '/usr' , this will have to be changed to either ‘/usr/local’
or ‘/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/Current’.
Our recommendation is to use the latter.
