[Mono-dev] Building Mono on OSX from GitHub

In our setup, we configure and build libtool with the --program-prefix=g option. This will result in the compiled binary named glibtool, which the Mono build scripts look for first, instead of libtool since Apple's command line tools ship with a version of libtool that is not compatible with Mono.
