Hi,

Yes, if you want LLVM support, the way to get it is still to build
with github.com/mono/llvm/mono (that is, the mono branch, not the
master branch).

It's certainly not abandoned; we actively maintain it, and it's used
in Xamarin's MonoTouch product.
