But this is a run-time setting. It has no effect at compile time.
A quick test: modify the fastcgi-mono-server2 script to look
like this:

...
MONO_MANAGED_WATCHER=disabled
export MONO_MANAGED_WATCHER
exec /usr/bin/mono ...
