SGen will be available as an option in 2.8, and that is months away;
And we have only discussed making it the default for the platforms it
supports in 3.0, which is easily 9 months away.

Perhaps this would be useful for a lot of developers, and I would like
to discuss the merits of this patch on its own, regardless of SGen's
status.
