[Mono-dev] running mono on Ubuntu 8.04

Hey,

 

I've just joined this list, I hope to port a production site from
Win2000/IIS to Ubuntu 8.04/Apache but I have stumbled upon what seems upon
some digging to be a common problem. I'm posting here because the solution
to the problem evades me (at least at this time of night), and I'm looking
for clarification. I'm actually running Heron on Xen, which may have a
bearing on this. So.

 

I've failed to get mcs to run. I get an assetion error in mini-amd.c which
seems to be well documented. See here, for example:

Mainly my problem is that I don't understand the lingo here. What I'm hoping
is that I can avoid compiling mono from scratch (I have version 1.2.6 and
this is all I need) and can instead update Ubuntu directly. Can anybody
advise?
