We have picked students for this year already. You want to wait till
Sept 2009? :)

The fundamental problems with Mono.Media at the moment are:
(a) no-one spec'ed concrete use cases and requirements -- it's still a
very nebulous idea
(b) the are no applications that want to consume it -- people have
suggested Banshee, but it has no problems with its GStreamer/C player
engine, and you'd need to present a very solid case to change this
(c) developing a good and sufficiently generic library from scratch
like this will take a lot of time and effort

IMO a good GStreamer# binding will be more useful than Mono.Media.
