Any scheme you choose which is in any way related to MS's number scheme
might work today, but might fail tomorrow. MS bases their numbers on
what the marketing department says. They have little to no bearing on
actual feature set. Ya'll know this.

In this sense, I vote for Massi's suggestion. Major number change should
be based on major internal Mono changes. Minor should increase as new
features are added before a major change.

It however does not help the people who attempt to equate MS.Net 2.0
with Mono 2.0. But it doesn't try to and fail, either.
