I think you simply need to have a detailed table that shows the
details of these compatibilities with .NET
(seems even MS has to use this type of solution as MS version
numbering isn't intuitive either)

And someone to write in details what it all means to developers - like
what you do in your blogs.

I'm guessing ISVs look for help deciding when to "upgrade" their Mono projects??

Well, probably better to listen to actual developer thoughts and
ideas, just an outsiders view.
