Although the DDK is free, AFAIK kernel-mode drivers need to be signed
officially on Vista x64 ( and presumably every future MS OS). This
most likely costs lots of money. This is quite unfortunate, as the
only reason for this restriction is to protect the HDCP/DRM.

I think the best bet is to make FUSE so useful and popular that MS
'innovate' something equivalent ;-)
