There are several different versions of VS.NET 2005. Which one are you
using ?

The wiki and README.VSNET files already gives step-by-step instructions.
While I'm sure they aren't perfect several people have been able to
compile Mono using them (so they shouldn't be totally wrong :).

It would be easier if you explain (step-by-step) what you did - as your
description seems to list the requirements backward.
