[Mono-dev] Linux version of a Windows application

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, I have a management application compatible with WMI(Windows) and DMI, this application runs under Windows, my client is asking for a Linux version and I’m planning on using Mono for the front end, I’m very(very) new to Linux and was wondering if someone could direct me to articles about management, for example how can I get the information(model, serial number, brand, etc)of  the hard disk in my machine in Linux, ¿is there something similar to WMI in Linux?
