[Mono-devel-list] Building svn version on RedHat Enterprise Linux 3

Has anyone successfully managed to build from the pure svn code on Red Hat 
Enterprise Linux 3 using the tools that are current there?

I can build from a daily tarball but I can't build successfully from the svn 
source.

I don't want to upgrade autoconf/automake etc unless I really have to since 
I'd like to keep this machine as close to a supported format as possible

(Is it well known that one cannot build with slightly old tools?)
