It's a little off-topic but there are good reasons for more trust ;-)

The pre-requisites for GACed assemblies is higher than non-GACed assemblies.
* the strongname; and
* the fact that the assembly was installed there by someone who had access
to the GAC - i.e. it's not an assembly loaded from anywhere world-writable;

Both may not impact the security of most applications (as most run at
full-trust anyway), however this may means a lot under partial trust.
