Your idea is interesting.

But I wanted to correct you on something: the whole Mono stack is a free
stack.  

The paranoia that people have of non-ECMA components has nothing to do
with the freeness of the code.  It has to do with the fear that
Microsoft might have a patent on the pieces that are not covered by
ECMA.

But people afraid of software patents should probably do something else
than software development.  The fact that Microsoft has granted a RAND
+RF license to the ECMA components does not mean that someone *else*
might not have a patent on a core technology of Mono (or anything else
for that matter;  For reference google `Kodak Java Sun patent').
