Thanks for the encouragement!

I pretty much got stuck at the same point as Eran Sandler did, with a
seg fault in mint (crashing in setlocale(2)). Trying to cover my bases,
I tried to make sure I had a working glib - and got FAILs in the glib
regression tests (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157312) . I
still got the same
FAILs with the native AIX C compiler (apparently <bernard at ugsolutions.com>
has been using the native
compiler). Upgrading to glib 2.7.4 made one FAIL disappear, but the other
ones remain.

I have sent mail to <bernard at ugsolutions.com> to find how far he got in his
efforts, and to
<LaurentVivier at wanadoo.fr> to find out what the state of the glib AIX port
is. If there are similar
experiences with previous mono ports to other architectures, I would be
more than grateful for
some advice and/or direction.
