Ahh,

Gento defaults to automake 1.4

If someone else reads this, this is what I did:

WANT_AUTOMAKE="1.7" ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/local

and now it works. (:

Though, shouldn't the autogen.sh check the version of automake and give you an 
error that you need a later version, instead of just barfing up some error?
