Have a look at www.go-mono.com/mono-todo.html for some jit-related
research areas. Profile-driven (both static and runtime) optimizations
could be interesting, as would be implementing new optimizations, a
precise garbage collector, automatic or explicit support for
vectorizations and so on. Let us know if you take on a task
or if you'd like more specific info (but you'll have to make more
specific questions:-).
